Paracord minion

In this tutorial I demonstrate how to tie the paracord minion.paracord-minion

These minions are handy as gifts and can act as keychains or decorations.

There are quite a few ways you can use to make a paracord minion, this one is fairly simple and produces a nice looking minion.

paracord-minion-instructions

I made quite a thorough tutorial, at least in my opinion, so enjoy!

The supplies needed

This project requires the following supplies:

  • paracord 550. You will need about a foot of both yellow and blue, as well a small black cord for the feet and bandana
  • a googly eye (also called a wiggle eye)
  • some glue to attach the eye to the bandana
  • lighter
  • scissors

The paracord minion tutorial

We will now start tying the minion. The three knots used in making this minion are:

  • the snake knot (2 strand wall knot)
  • the overhand knot for the hands
  • the square knot (cobra knot) for the feet

Making the torso

To start off, take your two long stands and place them like this:paracord-minion-tutorial (1 of 38)

The blue cord is folded in half, the yellow is placed under it at the half way point.

Take your right yellow cord and place it over the left yellow cord. This will create a loop.

Then travel under the loop and to the right.

With your left cord go under the right cord (this is tricky to see at first, so be patient).

Then with the same, left cord go over the top and into the loop on the left.

The hands

For the hands we will use simple overhand knots. Tighten them close to the body of the minion.

Do both hands like this!

Now we move on to the feet.

The feet

The feet are made using cobra knots.

The right foot is made with the knot towards the right side.

Tighten firmly next to the body and cut the excess cords. Melt the ends.

The bandana and eye

paracord-minion-tutorial (37 of 38)

The bandana is made by cutting a small piece of black paracord, then removing the inners strands (gutting it). Then wrap the piece around the head part of the minion and either melt the ends into place or glue the bandana on.

The eyes are finally glued on to finish the minion.

Enjoy your paracord minion!
